NHS England aimed to deliver transformational and sustainable change across the NHS. They recognised that a key enabler of their plan was a firm foundation of good line management culture, practice and behaviour. Their staff engagement results had identified a need for more consistent line management capability. Keen to address this, they invested in a national programme of line management development.
